Graham Roberts has claimed on Twitter that Manchester United’s big summer signing Antony ‘couldn’t lace’ the boots of Tottenham Hotspur striker, Harry Kane.

This comes after Manchester United fan and Youtuber, Mark Goldbridge, questioned the rumoured ‘£100 million’ price tag on Harry Kane’s head and how ‘we are going to get absolutely played by Spurs’ if Erik ten Hag tells the powers that be to sign the England captain.

It was pointed out by a Spurs fan page that they have splashed hundreds of millions over the years, including £86 million for Antony from Ajax (Sky Sports).

Not many will dispute that Manchester United, who are in a Champions League battle with Spurs, have the financial power to buy the top stars, especially if the Glazers head for the exit door and a new crop of wealthy owners come in.

It’s just a case of whether or not you would pay such a huge sum for a 29-year-old player, that’s never won a trophy and many feel that there would be other better and longer-term targets out there.

Either way, Graham Roberts was sure to provide his penny’s worth when hearing the talk about Kane, as he fired shots at the trickster on Manchester United’s right flank.

‘£100 million for Antony was too much,” responded Roberts. “But you paid that and he couldn’t lace Kane’s goalscoring boots’.

KANE ON A FREE?

If the England star wants to leave, then compared to when he wanted to join Manchester City, the ball is now in his court and not Daniel Levy’s.

The issue for the Spurs chairman is that Kane can leave for free in 2024, so does he risk that situation becoming a reality? Or does he take the money this summer and run?

Either way, even if Tottenham’s all-time leading goalscorer doesn’t leave this summer, it shouldn’t also be ruled out that he could join another team for nothing in just over 12 months, which could still be Man United.
