Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Graham Roberts has backed up striker Harry Kane and criticised Talksport pundit Dean Ashton.
Ashton yesterday told the station that Harry Kane is not world class and needs to add nastiness to his game if he is to become one of the best.
Roberts was frustrated at believing he had heard Ashton hail West Ham’s Andy Carroll as a player Kane should be studying if he wants to improve.
Roberts was listening and hit out at Roberts’ comments, mocking Carroll’s injury record.
Ashton said that Kane is a ‘great’ striker already but has plenty to improve on.
The former England striker challenged Roberts over his criticism, insisting he had been misunderstood.
Kane has netted 19 goals in 26 games in all competitions this season, with 14 of those coming in the Premier League.
He scored a hat-trick against Fulham at the weekend in the FA Cup ensuring his side reach the quarter-finals, where they will host Millwall, a club where he spent a short spell on loan as a teenager.
