The fact that Tottenham Hotspur tore Everton apart in Sunday’s 6-2 win at Goodison Park should have been the only story from the Premier League game, as well as developments along the lines of whether Mauricio Pochettino’s charges can now be considered bona fide title challengers.
However, some fans were left unhappy at how the Sky Sports commentary from the afternoon seemed to focus more on reports (such as the one in The Telegraph) linking the Argentine coach to Manchester United, who sacked Jose Mourinho earlier this month and brought in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer only until the end of the season.
Now, a Tottenham legend has added to the criticism of Gary Neville and Martin Tyler for their commentary during the Lilywhites’ thrashing of Everton on Merseyside, deeming them to have been not only unprofessional, but also “very disrespectful” to both Spurs and Man United.
Osvaldo “Ossie” Ardiles played for Spurs between 1978 and 1988, making 311 appearances, scoring 25 goals and helping the club reach the final of the 1982 FA Cup – which they won – and lift the UEFA Cup in 1984, according to the official Tottenham website.
Now a club ambassador, the former Argentina international expressed his dismay with Neville and Tyler’s commentary on his Twitter account:
