All the news and gossip relating to Tottenham Hotspur in the past 24 hours.

Tottenham have completed the signing of Emmanuel Adebayor from Manchester City. The protracted deal has finally been completed with a fee of £5million being paid. He had an impressive loan spell at The Lane last season and it appears he has taken a long awaited paycut to finally agree the move.

Reports in England suggest Spurs are ready to launch a £12million raid on Roma for Miralem Pjanic as a replacement for the departing Luka Modric. The Daily Mail claims the Bosnian international is available after Daniele De Rossi turned down Manchester City’s continued advances and can play in a variety of creative midfield roles. As Spurs and AVB are not willing to pursue Porto’s Joao Moutinho due to the Portuguese side’s lofty asking price Pjanic is seen as a more then suitable replacement.

However reports in Italy already seem to pour cold water over any deal with Pjanic reportedly committed to the cause in the Italian capital, and has politely declined the advances of Spurs.

Sebastian Bassong has left Tottenham and joined Norwich, as they attempt to sure up a defence that conceded 5 goals on the opening day of the season. Signed for £8million by Spurs in 2008 from Newcastle, the Cameroon international spent an ill-fated period on loan at Wolves last season and after the arrivals of Jan Vertonghen and Steven Caulker from Ajax and a loan spell at Swansea respectively the time was right for Bassong to leave.

He is believed to be the first in a White Hart Lane cull by AVB as he also looks to offload David Bentley, Jermaine Jenas, Giovani Dos Santos, Michael Dawson and Tom Huddlestone according to the London Evening Standard.

Sky Sports report that Stoke have been installed as early frontrunners for a season long loan signing of Tom Huddlestone. The Potters are after a more creative midfield player and Huddlestone would follow in the footsteps of Jonathan Woodgate, Wilson Palacios and Peter Crouch in leaving White Hart Lane for the Britannia.

Stoke were initially reported to be interested in also bringing in Michael Dawson but it appears QPR have leapt ahead of them in the race for his signature with a £10million deal mooted in The Daily Mail. The defender has miraculously fallen out of favour with manager Andre Villas Boas, despite being installed as captain during pre-season. At the weekend however, the former Nottingham Forest player was left out of the squad completely and is on the verge of strengthening QPR’s defence following a shocking 0-5 home reverse to Swansea on the opening day.

Sunderland want both Jermaine Jenas and Danny Rose at The Stadium of Light before the end of the transfer window according to The Telegraph. Danny Rose would move to acquire more first team action whilst Jenas’s loan deal could be a prelude to a permanent deal, which would turn heads on the North East owing to his previous three year affiliation at rivals Newcastle.
