Tottenham Hotspur are keen to snap up Konrad Laimer – but the RB Leipzig ace may end up heading to Bayern Munich instead.
Tottenham may have signed Rodrigo Bentancur in January but their midfield recruitment may not be over just yet.
The Telegraph report that Antonio Conte now wants to have two midfielders signed this summer. That’s despite Oliver Skipp signing a new deal at Tottenham.
One of the names in the mix is Leipzig star Laimer.
German newspaper Bild reported earlier this month that Tottenham are fighting Manchester United in the race to sign Laimer.
The Leipzig star is out of contract in 2023 and the Bundesliga side may now be forced to sell before he leaves for nothing.
Compared to N’Golo Kante for his relentless work in midfield, Laimer could bring real energy and determination to the Tottenham side.
Even capable of playing as a wing back, Laimer is fast and impressive on the ball; a real all-rounder and a manager’s dream.
You can imagine that Conte would love a player like Laimer in his midfield, hassling players alongside Bentancur.
However, Tottenham now face a massive fight to sign Laimer at the end of the season with mounting interest.

Kicker report that Bayern Munich now want to sign Laimer at the end of the season to bolster Julian Nagelsmann’s midfield options.
Nagelsmann worked with Laimer at RB Leipzig and would seemingly love to reunite with the Austrian this summer.
Laimer may also fancy that prospect having been a key player under Nagelsmann before his Bayern move.
Of all clubs to fight with Tottenham for Laimer, Bayern may be the worst for Spurs given that connection with Nagelsmann.
Tottenham may need to get in quickly and make their move for Laimer before Bayern can get their own house in order, with Marcel Sabitzer potentially moving on before Laimer can come in.
