Tottenham goalkeeper Luke McGee is set to leave the club to join Portsmouth on a permanent deal, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

League One new boys Portsmouth have turned their attentions to McGee after failing to agree a loan deal with Brighton and Hove Albion for Christian Walton.

McGee is highly-rated at Tottenham, but he has found his path into the first-team blocked by Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm.

Tottenham's Luke McGee warms up Luke McGee: Impressed on loan at Peterborough

The 21-year-old spent last season on loan at Peterborough and he impressed during his stint at London Road.

McGee made 45 appearances for Peterborough last season and scooped the club’s Player of the Season award.

Posh were keen to re-sign the talented shot-stopper, but they have since moved on to other targets leaving the road clear for Portsmouth to swoop.

Portsmouth boss Kenny Jackett knows all about McGee from his time working at Tottenham’s academy prior to him taking up the role at Fratton Park.

Portsmouth are in desperate need of goalkeeping reinforcements with Alex Bass the only senior goalkeeper at the club and McGee’s arrival will come as a welcome boost to Jackett.

McGee is undergoing a medical at Portsmouth and he will join the club on a permanent deal after Tottenham decided to sell him rather than loan him.
