Alessandro Bastoni to Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly a growing possibility.

The Inter Milan defender is being heavily linked with a transfer to North London this summer.

According to Calciomercato, Tottenham’s Fabio Paratici has already contacted the Italian outfit about signing the player.

Bastoni will set Spurs back a whopping £51 million if he does join but, according to Football London, the transfer may hinge on what happens with another central defender.

Tuttomercatoweb claimed in April that Arsenal wanted to sign Gleison Bremer of Torino, with the Lilywhites also linked.

And Football London writer Alasdair Gold, who exclusively covers Tottenham, has suggested the path might be opening for the Hotspur Way outfit to get Bastoni.

Gold writes that with Inter wanting Bremer, they might have to sell Bastoni first in order to fund a transfer.

Good news

This, if true, is potentially massively advantageous for the North Londoners in their pursuit of the defender.

That’s because if the San Siro club sense that Bastoni is itching for a transfer – and he might because the player, by his own admission, is in debt to Antonio Conte – then it’s in their interest to have a replacement lined up as soon as possible.

But as Gold points out, the Milan giants won’t be able to afford a replacement without first selling the £51 million-rated powerhouse and with that in mind, this one could, in theory, materialise without much drama.

There’s been a lot of protracted transfer sagas relating to Tottenham down the years, largely down to Daniel Levy dithering.

But it makes sense for all parties for Alessandro Bastoni to Tottenham Hotspur to happen relatively swiftly and that is certainly good news.
