Tottenham Hotspur want Joe Scally and have scouted the Borussia Monchengladbach talent ahead of a potential move to sign him.

Spurs brought in a right wing back over the summer as Djed Spence finally joined from Middlesbrough after a protracted transfer saga.

Yet we have yet to see Spence even start a game for Tottenham and Antonio Conte may want another right wing back in 2023.

It’s hard to imagine that Conte sees Matt Doherty or Emerson Royal as the long-term solution for Tottenham so another target may emerge.

Tottenham Hotspur want Joe Scally

The latest name in the mix is Borussia Monchengladbach talent Joe Scally.

90Min report that Tottenham and Manchester United both scouted Scally in Gladbach’s 4-2 win over Borussia Dortmund on Friday night.

Scally started as a right back in a four-man defence and played the full 90 minutes in a big Gladbach win.

It’s suggested that Scally has impressed Tottenham officials this year and Spurs are continuing their interest in the American.

Scally, 19, has started 15 Bundesliga games this season and has nailed down the role as Gladbach’s first-choice right back.

Scally has been selected by the United States national team for the World Cup but it’s unclear whether he will start.

The US have elected four players – Scally, Sergino Dest, Shaq Moore and former Tottenham man DeAndre Yedlin – who can play at right back.

Scally may therefore be in and out of the American side but the teenager will be hoping to start in Qatar.

The official Bundesliga website offer a lofty comparison for Scally, suggesting that he plays most like Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Tottenham would no doubt love to have a player with Alexander-Arnold’s attacking qualities at right wing back, and whilst Scally hasn’t managed a single assist this season, Spurs may have hope that Scally can become a star in the years to come.
