AC Milan want Japhet Tanganga and talks were held with the Tottenham Hotspur defender’s agent on Wednesday ahead of a potential deal.

Tottenham have been busy bringing new signings to the club with four new faces already brought in this summer.

The attention will soon turn to getting players out of Tottenham as well though, with Steven Bergwijn set for Ajax.

Joe Rodon, Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso, Sergio Reguilon and Emerson Royal are all potential departures this summer – and Tanganga may leave too.

AC Milan want Japhet Tanganga

Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio reports that AC Milan are back in for Tanganga having held an interest in him during the January transfer window.

It’s stated that Milan held talks with Tanganga’s agent – last known to be the Italian agent Roberto di Fanti – on Wednesday in an attempt to get a deal moving forward.

The report adds that Tanganga really wants to play regular first-team football, hinting that a move away from Tottenham is possible.

Tanganga, 23, has come up through the Tottenham ranks having been with the club since at least the age of 10.

Brought into the first-team picture by Jose Mourinho back in 2020, Tanganga initially impressed and his versatility was very appealing.

Whether it was centre back, left back or right back, Tanganga would be a solid defender if a little limited going forward.

Tanganga only played 11 times in the Premier League last season and his chances of first-team action don’t look much better moving into next season.

Milan have enjoyed success with one English defender having signed Fikayo Tomori from Chelsea on a permanent basis last summer.

Stefano Pioli’s men seemingly want to repeat the trick by signing Tanganga this summer having missed out on signing Newcastle new boy Sven Botman.

Tottenham need to be wary of their homegrown numbers though, which may be the only thing that makes Spurs think twice about letting Tanganga go.
