Tottenham Hotspur will not entertain any approaches for manager Mauricio Pochettino following Chelsea’s reported interest.
Tottenham Hotspur will reject any approaches for manager Mauricio Pochettino this summer and insist the only way he can leave is if he “chose to walk way”, according to the Evening Standard.
Pochettino has emerged as a surprise target for Chelsea who look increasingly likely to be in the market for a new manager in the coming weeks after current boss Antonio Conte failed to secure Champions League football next season after a disappointing fifth place finish.
The Sun report Spurs see Pochettino as the man to bring some stability to the dugout at Stamford Bridge, encouraged by suggestions the Argentine and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy “are at loggerheads” over transfer funds.
The Standard also report Blues owner Roman Abramovich and Marina Granovskaia are big admirers of Pochettino’s work across town in north London.
However, Tottenham are not willing to listen to offers for their manager, who has three years remaining on his current contract. The report does however note that situation could change if Pochettino decides to push for an exit.
Speaking after Tottenham’s season-closing victory over Leicester City on Sunday, the former Espanyol boss appeared to cast doubt on his future, calling upon Levy to be “brave and take risks” – an apparent nod to the club’s cautious approach in recent transfer windows.
