Tottenham Hotspur target Dani Olmo is not against signing for a Premier League club but the RB Leipzig ace would prefer to re-join Barcelona during the summer transfer window, according to Christian Falk.
Say what you want about Olmo, no one could accuse the Spain international of lacking bravery.
Rather than stay in the comfortable, five-star surrounds of Barcelona’s iconic La Masia academy, a 16-year-old Olmo decided back in 2015 that his development would be better served some 1,600 miles to the east.

The playmaker’s decision was most certainly justified; making his name at Dinamo Zagreb before sealing a big-money move to the Bundesliga, all the while cementing his place in the heart of Luis Enrique’s Spain squad.
“Dani Olmo is huge for (the Spain team),” said Enrique; the ex-Barcelona boss who could reportedly hold talks regarding the vacant Tottenham post this week (talkSPORT).
“He is very smart, has a lot of quality. He is a very important player for us. Dani Olmo has proven that he has high quality.
“He offers a great level and tremendous flexibility in his movement.”
Tottenham Hotspur face Barcelona battle for Dani Olmo
With BILD reporting that Tottenham have held initial talks with Olmo’s camp, could a reunion with Enrique be on the cards in North London? Spurs are looking for a manager to replace Antonio Conte with another of Olmo’s old mentors on the radar; ex-Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann.
Olmo has just one year left on his Leipzig contract.
BILD reporter Christian Falk, speaking to Caught Offside, believes a move to the Premier League cannot be ruled out, even if Barcelona’s prodigal son hopes to retrace his steps and return to his old stomping ground.
“The Spaniard would like to join FC Barcelona,” Falk explains. “But is not averse to a move to England.
“Manchester United are also among those interested whilst Leipzig are struggling to renew Olmo’s contract.”
Olmo is reportedly valued at around £33 million.
Falk believes that Leipzig are planning to retain the 24-year-old for at least another year, however. Even if that could mean losing Olmo on a free later down the line.
“Chief amongst Leipzig’s fears,” Falk explains. “Is the possibility of a club signing Olmo shortly before the end of the transfer deadline. Leaving the side with minimal time to find a replacement.
“In order to future-proof (themselves), Olmo should definitely stay for at least another year.”
