Tottenham Hotspur have held contact with Chelsea over a late deal touring midfielder Conor Gallagher across London.

Conor Gallagher remains the subject of major interest from Tottenham Hotspur as the transfer deadline draws closer.

That is according to Sky Sports, who report that Tottenham are still trying to do a deadline day deal for Gallagher.

It’s stated that there has actually been contact between the two clubs with the idea of thrashing out a deal.

However, the likelihood is that Tottenham need to offload players before being able to make an acceptable bid for Gallagher.

Gallagher was training as normal with Chelsea but the Blues could sell with the midfielder now inside the final two years of his contract.

Tempting Gallagher away from Chelsea doesn’t feel easy given that he has been with the club since the age of just eight.

Spurs seemingly have hope though and could push to bring Gallagher across London before the window slams shut.

Homegrown players the key for Tottenham amid Conor Gallagher chase

Tottenham are looking to bring in a number of players today and they all have something in common – their homegrown status.

Gallagher is one of the targets with Ange Postecoglou keen to add another goalscoring threat to his midfield ranks.

Then there is forward Brennan Johnson, who appears to be completing a move from Nottingham Forest today.

Tottenham also want Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly but have failed with an opening bid of £20million according to The Athletic.

All of those players would add to Tottenham’s homegrown numbers following the arrival of James Maddison earlier this summer.

Whether Spurs can get all of those deals done is another matter but Tottenham seem to be focusing on homegrown talent in the final hours of the window.
