Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld has been taken on pre-season tour by Mauricio Pochettino.

Toby Alderweireld’s inclusion on Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-season tour is surely the clearest indication yet that he will be with Mauricio Pochettino’s side next season.
Alderweireld’s future at Tottenham has been up in the air all summer, as he has a £25 million release clause built in to his contract.
However, that clause expires at the end of next week, as reported by the Guardian, and Tottenham have taken him to Asia with them.
With Spurs leaving players at home to arrange moves, they surely wouldn’t have taken Alderweireld abroad if there were any thoughts that he could leave.

The Belgian has been heavily linked with Roma in recent times, with the Daily Mirror suggesting the Italian side were ‘confident’ of landing him.
But Pochettino’s decision to take Alderweireld on tour is the most obvious indication that he will be staying with Tottenham yet.
If Alderweireld does stick with Tottenham it would be a huge boost to Pochettino’s side, as he remains one of the finest centre-backs in their squad, alongside Jan Vertonghen.
