Tottenham manager’s son is beginning to make an impression for the under-18s.
Tottenham Hotspur fans are blessed to have one Pochettino, with the head coach one of their most popular bosses in recent history.
Earlier this year he move to bring in a second, with Mauricio’s son Maurizio signing for the club’s academy.
Unlike the Argentine, Maurizio was born in Spain and has dual nationality.
Also in contrast to his central-defender father, Pochettino junior is a forward.
The youngster is just 16, born in 2001, and at the weekend he made his first start for Tottenham’s under-18 side.
He had made two previous appearances as a substitute this season, playing a combined 17 minutes.
Under-18 boss Scott Parker selected him to start in the away visit to Swansea City and he played 70 minutes in a 5-2 victory.
Pochettino junior is only just getting started, and he faces a tall order to avoid the high number of famous footballing sons who have failed to match their father’s successes – take Brooklyn Beckham’s aborted footballing career at Arsenal as a recent instance.
At the moment though Maurizio Pochettino is in a good place, and fans should start keeping an eye on his progress as he bids to create a career for himself.
