Pau Lopez has told Marca that he is not thinking about his future amid speculation linking him with a permanent move to Tottenham Hotspur.

The 22-year-old goalkeeper spent the 2016-17 campaign on loan in North London from Espanyol.

However, it was an uneventful venture for the Spain Under-21 international who did not make a single appearance for Tottenham’s senior side in any competition.

In spite of the fact he did not play, Lopez confirmed to Onda Cero last week that Espanyol and Spurs were negotiating to make the move permanent.

But it was then reported by Sport that the Lilywhites had pulled the plug on a potential £6 million deal for him as his future now seems shrouded in uncertainty.

Asked by Marca what the latest was on his future, Lopez said: “Until June 30 I am a Tottenham player. I don’t think about my future too much. I want to enjoy the national team after an enjoyable but complicated year.”

It would be quite a hefty transfer fee for a player who didn’t make a single appearance last season, if the £6 million price-tag is accurate so perhaps the Lilywhites were right to walk away from the deal, if they did.

Lopez was Spurs’ third-choice option behind Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm, and there is precious little to suggest that it would be different next season.
