Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino reportedly has Ajax defender Joel Veltman at the top of his wishlist.

According to the London Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Joel Veltman could be available for just £8 million this summer.

Tottenham have been linked with Ajax defender Veltman for weeks, with Mauricio Pochettino looking to strengthen his backline.

And, with Veltman’s contract set to expire in 12 months’ time, Ajax are now contemplating selling the 25-year-old at a cut price.

Veltman is said to be high on Tottenham’s list of potential signings, and Ajax’s decision to sell him cheaply makes the transfer look like a new brainer for Pochettino’s men.

Veltman has plenty of resale value, so even if the move does not work out, Spurs shouldn’t suffer too much of a loss.

And, if Veltman does fulfil his potential in North London, then Spurs could have the chance to complete one of the bargain deals of the summer.

Veltman’s form at Ajax this season has been hugely impressive, with the defender looking solid defensively, and capable going forward.

Spurs are yet to make a signing this summer, but the addition of Veltman should now be right at the top of their list of priorities.
