Tottenham Hotspur’s Moussa Sissoko has admitted to the Independent that Arsenal great Patrick Vieira is his hero.

Sissoko has been resurgent at Tottenham this season, where he has become a key player.

And the £30 million midfielder (Independent) admits that fellow Frenchman, Vieira, is someone who he models his game on.

“Tottenham fans won’t be happy, but my hero was Patrick Vieira,” Sissoko said.

“He was playing for Arsenal but he was my idol. We have a similar style: he liked to do box-to-box, I’m tall like him, he was strong, ran a lot. So I think we’re similar. Maybe he was better than me, but I try to be close to him.”

Sissoko has enjoyed a simply brilliant campaign at Tottenham, where he has completely transformed opinions.

Sissoko was often criticised by Spurs fans before this campaign started, but he has been sensational over the course of the campaign.

The former Newcastle United man is now almost certain to start in the Champions League final on Saturday.

Tottenham are due to take on Liverpool in Madrid in two days’ time in what is arguably the biggest game in the club’s history.
