Everton wanted Mitchell Weiser in 2015 and thier desire for a new right-back should lead them back to the Hertha Berlin flyer.
With Seamus Coleman out until the New Year with a broken leg, Everton have been linked with a whole host of right backs in recent months.
From the unlikely to the unknown, The Toffees appear no closer to finally signing a back-up for the stricken Republic of Ireland international. It’s now over a month since The Guardian claimed Everton boss Ronald Koeman was closing in on a reunion with Cuco Martina, a player he signed for Southampton from FC Twente in 2015.
However, with Sky Sports claiming that Tottenham Hotspur have placed Mitchell Weiser on their ironically lengthy shortlist of potential Kyle Walker replacements, Everton should take a close interest in the German’s situation at Hertha Berlin.

Why Weiser?
Since taking the plunge and leaving Bayern Munich in 2015 in search for more regular game time, Weiser has developed into one of his country’s most exciting young talents. The 23-year-old is now a flying full-back rather than a sprightly winger but is as efficient as ever in the final third.
Despite starting just 12 Bundesliga games last season due to injury, Weiser still scored two goals and set up another four to help Hertha qualify for Europa via a sixth placed finish.
In many ways, Weiser, who is part of the Germany side who will battle Spain in the final of the European Under-21 Championships in Poland on Friday, is a modern-day full-back cut from the same cloth as Coleman.
And, at just 23, he has plenty of time to develop and who better to learn under than a manager renowned for his ability to help young players hone their potential.

The Mirror claimed that Everton were interested in signing Weiser on a free when he bid farewell to Bayern two years ago. And though his value will have skyrocketed since, his performances in the last two years point to a smart investment.
