Jermaine Jenas made over 200 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur during his playing days.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has joked on the Premier League Show, which was broadcast on BBC Two on 12th October, that he could have made Jermaine Jenas a better player than Dele Alli.

Jenas was sent out to interview Pochettino by the BBC programme, and he ended the conversation by trying to get one over on Alli.

“Can you just tell Dele, that you told him I was better than him,” Jenas joked.

Pochettino then responded: “With me, you would have been better than Dele, of course.”

Jenas played for Spurs between 2005 and 2013, and he made 202 appearances for the Lilywhites.

The central midfielder was renowned as an excellent technician, but injuries stopped him from fulfilling his potential.

Alli has joined Spurs at a younger age than Jenas, and his start at White Hart Lane has been nothing short of remarkable.

Alli immediately adapted to playing in the Premier League, and now plays a crucial role for both Spurs and England, after enjoying a rapid rise to the top of the game.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder has made 55 appearances for Spurs to date, and scored on 12 occasions.
