Tottenham Hotspur’s lucky escape underlined as Sandro Ramirez reportedly eyes Everton exit

Sandro Ramirez has only started three Premier League games for Everton – but the former Barcelona striker could already be returning to Spain.

Just three months after the 2017/18 season kicked off, Sandro Ramirez already appears to be eyeing a route out of Everton.

According to Mercato 365, the Spanish striker could be on his way out of Goodison Park in January after plummeting down the pecking order. Sandro has started just three Premier League games, is yet to score a goal, and has been omitted from each of Everton’s last five matchday squads.

Caretaker boss David Unsworth even took his side to Lyon in the Europa League last Thursday without a recognised striker in his first XI, Gylfi Sigurdsson forced to lead to the line.

And reports that Sandro could now return to Spain on loan makes a mockery of suggestions that Everton had pulled off one of the deals of the summer when they won the race for the former Barcelona youngster.

With 14 La Liga goals in a stunning breakthrough season for Malaga in 2016/17, and a £5.1 million release clause in his contract, it’s no surprise so many clubs were keen. Tottenham Hotspur were reportedly interested, per The Independent – the fourth time they had been linked with the Spanish Under-21 international.

In fact, The Mirror even reported that Spurs held lengthy talks with Sandro in the summer of 2016 before he left Barca for Malaga.

Tottenham, however, won’t be losing too much sleep as reports snowball suggesting that the youngster’s Premier League career could be over already.
