In 2017, the highly-rated Spurs academy product made his debut against Newcastle in the Premier League, and it is fair to say he has come a long way since then.
Over the summer, Tottenham signalled their faith towards Walker-Peters when they refused to sell the 22-year-old amid interest from Crystal Palace and Brighton, as reported by The Sun.
Kieran Trippier’s sale to Atletico Madrid helped Walker-Peters become a starter this season as Mauricio Pochettino has selected him in the starting XI for the opening two games of the season.
It is fair to say that he has been producing pretty strong performances, and after sporadic appearances for Spurs since his debut against Newcastle two years ago, he is now ready to take his game to the next level.
When Walker-Peters made his debut at St James’ Park it was a pretty strong display, but at the time, Pochettino opted to continue with the senior men he had at the club.
Whilst Tottenham’s Sunday game won’t be played in the North East, Walker-Peters has a big chance to showcase how much he has improved in front of his own supporters.
Pochettino perhaps deserves credit for once again giving and showing faith in yet another bright talent and with it being patient in his development, which is still continuing.
