Newly-signed Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth has explained to the club’s official website his playing style.

Tottenham recruited Foyth from Argentine club Estudiantes for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Mail to be worth £8 million.

The 19-year-old operates as a central defender and has arrived at Spurs with a strong reputation.

The Argentina Under-20 international has outlined his playing style and how he can contribute to the team.

“I believe my style of play is about bringing the ball out and keeping it on the floor,” Foyth told Tottenham’s official website.

“I like individual duels and players taking me on. I’m also fast, so that’s what I think I’m going to contribute to the team.”

Foyth is relatively inexperienced in terms of playing first-team football regularly, and given that he is only 19 years of age, he is far from the finished article.

The Argentine teenager will take time to settle into life in England and to adapt to Premier League football.

However, the 19-year-old’s comments show that he has the quality and the talent to be a success under manager Mauricio Pochettino at Spurs, and the club’s fans should be encouraged.

Spurs play a high-pressing passing game, with centre-backs Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld very comfortable on the ball.

Foyth seems to be a player of the same mould, and the Argentine youngster could prove to be a massive success at Tottenham in the long run.
