Tottenham Hotspur striker Heung-Min Son is set to have a big role to play this season, as Mauricio Pochettino’s side look to get back to form.
South Korea took on North Korea in what was a politically charged match, which finished 0-0, with the Spurs striker on the end of some rough challenges.
South Korea may not have picked up the victory against their near neighbours in the contest.
But Son was thankful just to get out of the game without picking up a knock which would have forced him to miss out on playing for Tottenham.
“It’s too bad that we didn’t win, but the match was very aggressive to a degree that I think it’s a huge achievement just to return safely without being injured,” Son said.
“North Korean players were sensitive and aggressive.There was a lot of severe swearing.”
Spurs will be very thankful that Son has come out of the international break unscathed, as he is one of the players who still remains in credit after their poor start to the season.
Son’s effort has never been doubted by Tottenham fans, and he still remains one of their finest talents.
Whether Son will be fit enough to start for Tottenham at the weekend remains to be seen though.
The forward has done a great deal of traveling over the international break, so it may be deemed that he should start from the bench.
Spurs are next in action against Watford, where they will be under pressure to take the three points.
