Heung-Min Son has told the Telegraph that he wanted to stay on for Tottenham Hotspur against Huddersfield Town.

Son was substituted off just after the hour mark in Spurs’ last match, despite being on a hat-trick.

The South Korean has regularly been the first man to lose his place on the pitch, when Pochettino has made attacking changes in matches this season.

And while Son admits that he wants to play 90 minutes every week, he totally accepts Pochettino’s decision.

He said: “Of course [I wanted to stay on], but not because of the hat-trick, but because I want to play every game until the finish. But I need to accept it and it’s important we got three points.”

Son took his goals against Huddersfield brilliantly, as he returned to his best form.

The 25-year-old first rounded the Huddersfield goalkeeper before tucking the ball into an empty net, and he then headed home from Harry Kane’s wonderful pass.

Pochettino’s decision to substitute Son could suggest that the former Bayer Leverkusen man is set to start against Juventus in the Champions League in midweek.

Son was rested for the first-leg of the tie, with Erik Lamela replacing him, but could be all set to feature at Wembley on Wednesday.

Spurs go into the game having picked up a 2-2 draw in Italy.
