Tottenham Hotspur had to wait longer than initially promised to move into their new stadium.

When they eventually did, it was worth the wait.

Spurs kicked off in dream fashion, with a comfortable win over Crystal Palace, before a Champions League victory over Manchester City.

Followed up by a win over Huddersfield, there was hope Tottenham could turn the stadium into a fortress.

That simply has not happened.

Spurs have now lost three matches at home, out of a total of nine games.

These include defeats at home to West Ham, against Ajax, and now Newcastle.

Even the win over Aston Villa was one which looked like they might lose, have trailed for most of the game.

Tottenham have now won just one of their last five competitive home matches in all competitions, and this has to be a growing concern.

The stadium promised to be a big asset for Spurs, but in terms of results, it has not come together yet.

Tottenham’s next league games at home are against Crystal Palace, Southampton and Watford.

These fixtures give Spurs a chance to get back on track, but anything less than a 100 per cent record will be seen as a disappointment.
