Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli missed a crucial chance in the 1-0 defeat to Manchester United.

Dele Alli has told Tottenham Hotspur’s official website that he is “kicking himself” over his big miss in the 1-0 defeat to Manchester United on Saturday.
The England midfielder fluffed his lines from close range minutes before United substitute Anthony Martial scored the winning goal in the tightly-contested clash at Old Trafford.
Christian Eriksen dropped an inch-perfect pass onto Alli’s foot and the Spurs prodigy somehow missed the target.

It was a game of few chances and Alli is frustrated at himself for not taking the best opportunity that Spurs had, the type of which he expects to score.
“It’s one of those… if I had that opportunity 10 times I’d put it away the majority of the time,” Alli reflected in his post-match interview with Tottenham’s official website.
“In my head I was thinking all I needed to do was make contact and it was in. It hit the top of my foot and went wide.

“I’m kicking myself. I should have scored and I have to make sure the next time I get a chance like that I stick it away.”
Victory took United three points clear of Spurs in second in the Premier League and left Mauricio Pochettino’s side eight points adrift of pacesetters Manchester City.
The top of the table could have had a very different complexion had Alli shown the predatory instincts which saw him bag 18 league goals last season.
