Danny Rose has admitted to the Daily Mirror that he is desperate for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen to sign a new contract.

Eriksen has just over a year remaining on his deal at Spurs, and there are fears that he could be moved on in the summer.

But Rose has now joined Mauricio Pochettino in urging Tottenham’s board to pay Eriksen big money to convince him to stay at White Hart Lane.

“When Christian doesn’t play, there are questions that we don’t look the same,” Rose said.

“He links everything up for us. It’s a pleasure to play with him. He’s such a hard worker. He’s so creative and I hope he does sign. The lads in the changing room trust the people upstairs to hopefully get him to do that.

“We’ll just have to wait and see and hope that he does sign.”

Rose is one of the most outspoken players at Spurs, so it is hardly surprising that he is attempting to put pressure on Daniel Levy to sort Eriksen’s deal out.

Eriksen proved his worth to Tottenham once again last week, as he scored the winner against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Tottenham could not find a way past Brighton until the very last stages of the match, when Eriksen blasted home from range.

The Dane now has eight goals and 17 assists to his name this term, and even though he hasn’t always been at his sparkling best, Tottenham would be a much weaker team without him in their starting line-up.

Eriksen is currently on a deal worth £75,000-a-week at Tottenham (Daily Mirror), and would need a significant pay rise to consider staying.
