Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen looks likely to start in the Champions League final on Saturday.

Christian Eriksen has told BBC Sport that he is pleased Tottenham Hotspur aren’t playing Manchester City in the Champions League final.

Spurs are due to face Liverpool in Madrid on Saturday, as they look to lift their first trophy under Mauricio Pochettino’s guidance.

Eriksen was asked whether Spurs feel any differently about the final, as they are playing a team that they are so familiar with.

And Eriksen responded by saying: “I’m just happy it wasn’t City, I think we’ve played City enough this year!”

Tottenham have played City four times throughout the course of the campaign, including on three occasions in April.

Spurs lost both Premier League matches that they played against City, but they were Pep Guardiola’s side’s conquerers in the Champions League.

Tottenham made it through on away goals at the Etihad Stadium on their route to the final.

Spurs have also beaten the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Ajax on their way to Madrid.

All that stands between Tottenham and glory is Liverpool now, but beating Jurgen Klopp’s side will not be easy.

Spurs and Liverpool have met twice in the Premier League this term, and the Reds ran out victorious on both occasions.
