According to The Star, Sheffield Wednesday are interested in signing a central defender on loan in the summer transfer window, and Tottenham Hotspur youngster Cameron Carter-Vickers would be a good signing for the Owls despite his Sheffield United past.

The Daily Mail has reported that Tottenham could send Carter-Vickers out on loan this summer, and Wednesday should make a move.

The 20-year-old is a very good and promising young defender whose experience of playing in the Championship is a massive plus.

The youngster spent the first half of last season on loan at Wednesday’s bitter rivals United and the second half on loan at Ipswich Town.

Carter-Vickers – who earns £20,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com – made 17 starts each for United and Ipswich in the Championship last season – according to WhoScored – and the 20-year-old’s performances were quite encouraging.

A full USA international, Carter-Vickers is experienced and mature, and the Tottenham youngster would be a good addition to Jos Luhukay’s side for the 2018-19 campaign.

Wednesday are unlikely to find a top-notch defender so late in the summer transfer window, especially on a temporary deal, and with Tottenham reportedly open to sending the Carter-Vickers out on loan, the Owls should pounce.
