Full-back appears to be a position in which Tottenham need to strengthen.

The quality of Tottenham’s squad has been highlighted by the prominence of their key players in the latest Football Observatory report.

The CIES report generates estimated transfer values for players, taking into account their age, ability, and potential.

Tottenham striker Harry Kane is ranked as the second forward behind only Kylian Mbappe, with his value an estimated €197 million.

Dele Alli is the highest ranked midfielder in world football (€163m) and Davinson Sanchez the second highest defender (97m) behind only Samuel Umtiti.

Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris sneaks into the top 10 despite his recent troubles, ranked ninth at €41m.

While far from perfect, these rankings offer an overview of Tottenham’s talent and elite players in the squad, but they are lacking from one top 10 list.

Full-back is the only top 10 position group compiled by the CIES report in which no Tottenham player features. Former Spurs star Kyle Walker ranks second.

This underlines reservations about Kieran Trippier, whose form has dipped in the past month, and Ben Davies.

If Tottenham are to really progress, do they need better? And if Serge Aurier and Danny Rose are not long term answers as replacements, do Spurs need to try and find players who can improve the squad?

With the club’s financial constraints, it’s easier said than done, and perhaps youngster Kyle Walker-Peters can blossom into a first team regular who can hold his own.

After all that’s what Liverpool youngster Trent Alexander-Arnold has done.

He is ranked as the number one full-back, worth an estimated £96 million, with Reds teammate Andrew Robertson in third
