Tottenham Hotspur youngster Kion Etete has made a promising start.
Among Tottenham’s more spectacular transfer business in 2019, the addition of youngster Kion Etete was more low key.
Spurs struck a deal to sign Etete from Notts County, with the The Nottingham Post reporting they paid just £200,000 for the forward.
Etete scored an equaliser for Spurs in the derby with Arsenal at the weekend for the under-18s.
He has now made six under-18 appearances and scored three goals.
Standing tall at over six foot, Etete is a physical presence who stands out at under-18 level.
He has put this to good use, also scoring in under-18 games against Swansea and Brighton, and he also has one assist.
After his equaliser at the weekend he was modest on social media, focusing on the team’s comeback rather than his individual goal.
With Troy Parrott being fast tracked into the first team set up, Spurs needed a new frontman to lead the lines at under-18 level.
Etete, 17, is a very bright prospect who might find himself getting promoted to the under-23s soon if he carries on scoring.
The early signs are that Tottenham’s investment could turn out to be a bargain.
