Tottenham are looking to add more highly-rated youngsters to the conveyor belt of talented players they already have at their club, as Rakeem Harper is another name being touted to join Mauricio Pochettinio stable of talent.

London Football News have claimed that Spurs are interested in the services of West Bromwich Albion’s 6ft midfielder Rakeem Harper, who will be out-of-contract at the Hawthorns this Sunday.

Tottenham aren’t the only team keen on the 19-year-old’s services, though, with Serie A champions Juventus also looking to secure the services of the technically gifted midfielder, as reported by the Mirror.

It isn’t a surprise to see a list of big European clubs looking to sign Harper, but the West Brom man should look no further than North London because it will be the best place for him to develop and then thrive in his career.

It has been in Tottenham’s DNA in recent years, or even since Pochettino walked through the doors to give youngsters an opportunity to shine, and even provide those with big-name price tag to their heads to prove themselves, ala Moussa Sissoko.

Harper can follow in the footsteps of a Harry Kane, Danny Rose and Dele Alli. Players who were nowhere near the players they are today but are now fully fledged England international’s largely thanks to Pochettino and his coaching staff.

Not only that, Harper’s style of play would suit a Tottenham in the near future. He is very comfortable on the ball and prefers to play on the left of a midfield three.

The teenager has great energy and athleticism about his game, and given time, a club like Tottenham would be able to build on that, as well as making him think like a top-class footballer.

Whilst Spurs haven’t been able to add any trophies to their cabinet in recent years, one thing they would be proud of doing is building the careers of young footballers and making them into superstars. Harper could be next if he makes the right choice.
