Tottenham beat Everton 1-0 at White Hart Lane this afternoon.
Emmanuel Adebayor continued his excellent form to ensure Tottenham Hotspur took all three points from their match against Everton.
The striker took advantage of a swiftly-taken free-kick to beat Tim Howard in the 65th minute of an evenly-fought contest.
Leon Osman had twice gone close for the Toffees as Roberto Martinez’s men had the better of the first 45 minutes, but Adebayor scored from one of only five shots on target in the whole match.
Everton will have seen Liverpool demolish Arsenal on Saturday and known they could not afford to slip up in the race for fourth spot. But Tottenham have now climbed above them into fifth, and are just three points off that much-sought-after Champions League place.
