This Twitter post from a Portuguese-based journalist, verified by The Mirror, details the clubs who had representatives in attendance as a last-minute penalty from Jonas earned Benfica a 1-1 draw after Gelson Martins’ opener.
Martins has been making a name for himself at Sporting and may have caught the attention of the English scouts.
The 22-year-old, who is capable of playing on both flanks, has six goals this season and his pace and defensive qualities would make him a good fit for teams who employ wing-backs such as Spurs and Arsenal.
Tottenham’s focus may initially have been elsewhere, with reports from Portuguese outlet A Bola last month claiming that they had shortlisted Benfica left-back Alex Grimaldo as a possible replacement for Danny Rose.
Meanwhile, West Ham may have been checking in on Sporting midfielder William Carvalho, who was one of their top summer targets and may be revisited after the two clubs patched up their differences, as Sky Sports reports.
