Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are both challenging for the signature of Saint-Etienne goalkeeper Etienne Green.

You might think that name is a joke when paired with his team.

Saint-Etienne having a played called Etienne is strange enough, but his surname being green? When that’s the colour Saint-Etienne play in? It sounds absurd.

It’s very, very real though and so is Green’s talent.

TEAMtalk now claim that Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are in the race to sign Green.

Both teams have experienced, veteran goalkeepers in Hugo Lloris and Lukasz Fabianski respectively.

Green is therefore seen as one for the future, who could be loaned out before starring in the future.

Who is Tottenham and West Ham target Etienne Green?

The 20-year-old, born in Colchester, moved to France at the age of just four.

Green has been in the Saint-Etienne ranks since 2009, and is now their first-choice goalkeeper with eight league appearances to his name this season.

Green also has one England Under-21 cap to his name, earned earlier this week.

The youngster has impressed so much in France that former Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Mickael Landreau has hailed him.

Landreau called Green ‘perfect’, hailing his frill-free style as well as his kicking, with Tottenham and West Ham now seemingly agreeing with the potential on show.
