Tottenham Hotspur are allegedly keen on signing West Ham United’s Jarrod Bowen – but he actually turned them down a long, long time ago.
Reports from The Independent earlier this season suggested that Tottenham are keen to raid West Ham and bring Bowen to North London.
Is it likely that West Ham would sell to their London rivals? Absolutely not.
In truth, Tottenham are probably wasting their time if they think they can lure Bowen away from West Ham and over to Spurs.
Tottenham have probably missed their chance to sign Bowen, and it turns out they first had an opportunity to sign him back in 2014.
The Athletic report that Bowen had a number of options when he became available after Hereford folded due to financial problems.
Bowen had made eight first-team appearances for Hereford, scoring one goal before the club expelled from the fifth tier.
Tottenham made a move for Bowen, as did West Bromwich Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers as all three clubs spotted Bowen’s potential.
However, Bowen and his family preferred a move to Hull City and picked the Tigers in 2014.

Bowen ended up becoming a star at Hull, racking up 54 goals in 131 games for the club before joining West Ham in 2020.
The winger has been a sensation this season, smashing eight goals and eight assists in just 26 Premier League games for West Ham.
Branded ‘brilliant’ by Gary Neville, you have to imagine that an England call-up is on the horizon for Bowen.
Tottenham would now face a staggering fee if they wanted to sign Bowen, which may leave them gutted at missing out back in 2014.
