Tottenham Hotspur remain interested in signing Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo after missing out on him over the summer.

Tosin Adarabioyo is wanted by Tottenham Hotspur as he approaches the final stages of his Fulham contract.

That is according to Football London, who claim that Tottenham continue to show an interest in signing Adarabioyo.

The absences of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have highlighted that Tottenham simply have to sign defensive depth in January.

Spurs are being linked with a number of defenders with at least one new addition expected in that area during the January window.

Tottenham Hotspur still want Tosin Adarabioyo

One of the popular names over the summer was Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo.

Spurs targeted Adarabioyo but there were mixed rumours on just why he didn’t seem all that interested.

The Independent suggested that Tottenham were simply way off meeting his demands for a move to North London.

Foot Mercato noted in June that Adarabioyo simply preferred to sign for Monaco, believing that they would offer him more first-team football.

Either way, the summer window ended without Adarabioyo making a move and Tottenham have continued to chase him according to Football London.

Spurs are desperate for another defender and Adarabioyo is out of contract at the end of the season, with no indication that he will sign a new deal at Craven Cottage.

Maybe he can be tempted to North London after all, with new contract talks yet to be restarted.

Why Tottenham want Adarabioyo

Adarabioyo may seem like a strange target given that he has only played two minutes of Premier League action this season.

A groin injury has kept Adarabioyo out of action and he will be looking to get up to speed before the January window.

From a tactical perspective, Adarabioyo fits the bill for Ange Postecoglou in terms of his turn of pace.

Micky van de Ven has been vital to Tottenham’s high line due to his speed and Adarabioyo may be viewed in a similar way.

Pep Guardiola was a fan of Adarabioyo at Manchester City, suggesting that he is ‘fast, faster than people can believe’.

Adarabioyo is also a huge physical presence like Van de Ven, standing at 6ft 5in tall whilst also being a homegrown player.

Add in Adarabioyo’s contract situation and this move makes so much sense for Tottenham – but they will have to hope that he is more interested now than he was in the summer.
