Although Tottenham’s failure to sign a player last month did lead to them receiving some criticism, holding off on buying Brooks could be very wise.
Brooks has only just made the step up to Premier League level, and although he has been brilliant for Bournemouth, every game is vital to him at the moment.
The 21-year-old is learning by the match, and he is likely to be a much improved player for spending an entire season playing regular football at Bournemouth.
If Tottenham had signed him mid-season the step up may just have been too much for the Welsh international.
But even if they face paying slightly more at the end of the campaign, Brooks should be a far more accomplished player by then, and Spurs could benefit massively from leaving him at Bournemouth for another six months.
