Aleksandar Mitrovic once expressed his hope that Tottenham Hotspur win the Premier League title.

Now he could be signed by the Lilywhites this summer, with Teamtalk claiming they could go back in for him if Fulham are relegated.

Mitrovic expressed his admiration for Tottenham in 2016, praising manager Mauricio Pochettino.

He was speaking during Tottenham’s title race with Leicester City, and expressed his feelings that the Foxes were not the best team.

Then a Newcastle player, Mitrovic told Serbian newspaper Novosti: “Honestly, I want Tottenham to win the title.

“I like the principle of pushing their young players, and the coach Pochettino is excellent.

“We just played against Leicester and were almost better than them.”

Oddly enough, Mitrovic’s current manager is Claudio Ranieri, then the Leicester City boss.

Leicester went on to pip Spurs to the league, and Mauricio Pochettino’s side fell to third.

It’s a position they currently occupy too, while Leicester faded after their dream season.

Mitrovic and Fulham are down in 19th place. It’s hard to believe he would turn down the chance to work with Pochettino.
