Benfica hold the cards when it comes to Alejandro Grimaldo’s future.

Grimaldo is reportedly lined up as a potential replacement for Danny Rose, and various potential fees have been discussed.
CalcioMercato reported that Liverpool were quoted £35 million for the defender, while TalkSport this week claimed amid Tottenham interest that he could cost just £25 million.
Those fees are just speculation, and what is clear, written into the terms of Grimaldo’s contract, is a figure far higher.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is regarded for his strong negotiations himself, and if it came to it, he would be trying to strike a cheaper deal for the Spain under-21 international, but it would depend on Benfica’s willingness to let him go, or need for instant funds.
Danny Rose is not certain to leave by any means, and Tottenham have alternatives to Grimaldo, including Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon.
