Tottenham Hotspur want to sign a new defender over the summer and their recruitment team have started working on making a summer signing.
That’s according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Tottenham want to sign a new centre back this summer.
A ’dominant central defender’ is believed to be ‘at the very top’ of Tottenham’s summer transfer wish list.
The desire to sign such a player is so strong that Tottenham’s recruitment staff are allegedly working on summer targets already.
The January window only ended last week but Tottenham are seemingly planning early for the summer window.
Clement Lenglet is only on loan from Barcelona whilst Davinson Sanchez’s future looks unclear, so maybe Tottenham will end up needing two centre backs.

Who could Tottenham sign to bolster their defence?
A left-sided centre back has to be a top target for Tottenham if they are going to persist with a back three under Antonio Conte, which you would assume they will.
Lenglet only being on loan means Tottenham will surely have targets in mind for that role.
Josko Gvardiol fits the bill but a deal for the RB Leipzig defender may now be too expensive for Spurs.
Bayer Leverkusen ace Piero Hincapie has been heavily linked but he doesn’t quite fit the ‘dominant’ mould spoken about.
The Ecuador international is fairly slight for a centre back and stands at just 6ft tall, so whilst he fits the bill on the left, Tottenham may look for another profile.
Eintracht Frankfurt ace Evan Ndicka may be the one; he’s well-built at 6ft 3in tall, has great pace across the ground and is a naturally left-sided centre back.
Ndicka is available for free this summer and Tottenham could feasibly pull off a pre-contract agreement for the Frenchman.
Nikola Milenkovic, Alessandro Bastoni, Pau Torres and Kim Min-jae have all been linked at some point recently, but Ndicka seems to tick the boxes for Spurs.
