Who makes our list of Spurs’s best young players to keep an eye on in the upcoming season?

With Tottenham Hotspur improving once again last season and new manager Andre Villas Boas at the helm it gives some of the younger players at White Hart Lane a chance to make an impact. So which 5 make our list of the ones to watch at Spurs this season?

5. Massimo Luongo

Admittedly this is misleading as the Italian sounding Australian has signed a season long loan deal at Ipswich Town for next season but the boy still has plenty of talent so is worth keeping an eye on in the Championship. He signed a deal till 2014 this summer at Spurs and his creative style of play from a deeper position fit in with the attractive football being showcased at White Hart Lane. A good loan experience could be followed by breaking into the first team next season.

4. Andros Townsend

The down to earth winger has had a journeyman’s career of late with 8 loan spells at various clubs including impressive turnouts for Birmingham, Millwall and Leeds. He scored a brilliant goal in last season’s Europa League and is now determined to force himself into the first team picture and not spend any more time out on loan. He does however have the unenviable task of trying to force one of the world’s best left wingers in Gareth Bale out of the first team.

3. Harry Kane

Highly regarded in England’s youth circles the leggy striker has had impressive loan deals at fellow London clubs Leyton Orient and Millwall, being named Millwall’s young player of the year last season. He bagged his first goal for the club in last season’s Europa League campaign and will hope to feature in AVB’s plans at the Lane.

2. Jake Livermore

After various loan deals Livermore became a first team regular under Harry Redknapp last season making 24 league appearances in his central midfield role. This season will be tougher with the return of Tom Huddlestone from injury and Jermaine Jenas from his loan deal at Aston Villa. He turns 23 this year so must cement his place in the Tottenham line-up before it is too late.

1. Steven Caulker

I can’t outline my personal admiration for this boy enough. Fast, smart and good on the ball he is a thoroughly modern centre half. Currently representing the UK at the Olympics he had a sterling season last year on loan at Premier League new boys Swansea City, forming an excellent partnership with Ashley Williams. He signed a new four year contract earlier this month and the 20 year old will be looking to push Kaboul, Dawson and newboy Vertonghen for a place in the heart of the Spurs defence.

What do you think of these youngsters and any others who might make an impact over the course of 2012-13?
