Sky Sports pundit Jay Bothroyd has criticised Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison.

The former Arsenal prospect has said that Richarlison has been shocking for Tottenham Hotspur.

Bothroyd has noted that the Brazil international forward works hard for Spurs, but he has not been impressed with the intelligence that the 26-year-old shows on the pitch.

Richarlison joined Tottenham from Everton in the summer of 2022.

The £175,000-a-week (SalarySport) forward has really struggled at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium so far.

The 26-year-old has not scored in four Premier League appearances for Spurs this season.

The Tottenham no. 9 made 12 starts and 15 substitute appearances in the Premier League for Tottenham last season.

Richarlison scored one goal and gave three assists in those games.

The Brazilian made four starts and two substitute appearances in the UEFA Champions League for Spurs last season.

The former Watford star scored two goals in those games.

Criticism for Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison

Bothroyd said on Sky Sports, as transcribed by TBR: “I think he’s an E. I think he has a shocking record, he misses a lot of chances.

“He works hard, but his overall play and his intelligence on the pitch, I can only put him in E.

“27 appearances, one goal for Tottenham, it’s an E. In terms of his pricetag and what he’s done at Tottenham, as a number nine you have to score goals, he’s underperformed.”

Richarlison will get better for Tottenham Hotspur

In our view, Richarlison will turn on the style for Tottenham Hotspur eventually.

The forward is going through a bad spell now and is even struggling for Brazil.

However, he is only 26 now.

All players go through periods in their careers when things do not go well.

What Richarlison needs to do is continue to work hard and believe in himself.

It will happen.

It will work out.

Eventually.
