Tottenham Hotspur are said to be keen to tie down Kieran Trippier on a long-term contract.

According to a report in the Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur are set to offer Kieran Trippier a new five-year deal.

Trippier impressed for Spurs towards the back end of last season, and appeared to force his way into Mauricio Pochettino’s starting line-up at the expense of Kyle Walker.

Walker’s future at Spurs is now firmly up in the air, with Manchester City keen to snap up the right-back.

Tottenham want around £50 million for the England international though, and their asking price could prove a stumbling block over any deal.

In any case, any switch apparently will not happen until Trippier’s future is tied down.

Trippier still has three years left on his current deal at Spurs, but Pochettino is eager to offer the right-back a new contract which reflects his importance to the side now.

If Trippier does sign the new deal on offer to him with the North London club, as expected, then it seems likely that he will be Pochettino’s first choice right-back next term.
