Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly make a bid for Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson on the final day of the summer transfer window.
According to The Daily Mail (Transfer Live blog, 9:38am, September 1, 2023), Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Brennan Johnson from Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest today.
The report has claimed that Tottenham have “communicated” to Forest that they will make a bid for Johnson today.
However, Spurs have told Forest that they “they want to lock in a couple of outgoings” before making an improved offer.

Tottenham have had a bid of £40 million for the Wales international forward already turned down this summer.
Spurs are now planning to make a second and improved bid for the 22-year-old.
Former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey described his Welsh compatriot as a “very dangerous” player who is “very rapid” and “poses a threat in behind” in NottinghamshireLive in June 2023.
Tottenham Hotspur playing a risky game with Brennan Johnson
In our view, Tottenham Hotspur are playing a risky game with Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson.
If Spurs are really keen on the Wales international and are ready to make an offer of more than £40 million, then they should make the bid now.
There is no need to wait for outgoings.
Paperworks have to be filled and a medical is to be completed before the move becomes official.
And Forest could well turn down Tottenham’s second bid, which means that the North London club would have to go in with another offer.
We think that Tottenham should try to get a deal done for Johnson as soon as possible.
