Norwich City right-back Max Aarons is a player in demand.

The Sun report Tottenham Hotspur have a strong interest in the 19-year-old as doubts emerge over Kieran Trippier and Serge Aurier.

Aarons has just been nominated for a prestigious award, which could see him follow in Gareth Bale’s footsteps.

The teenager has been shortlisted for the EFL Young Player of the Season Award, as one of three nominees.

He is up against Luton’s Justin James and Liverpool’s Harry Wilson, who has been on loan at Derby County.

Previous winners of the award include Wilfried Zaha, Ryan Sessegnon and Lewis Cook.

Former Tottenham hero Gareth Bale won the award in 2007 while starring for Southampton in the Championship.

The following summer Tottenham signed Bale, and saw him blossom into a superstar before selling him to Real Madrid six years later.

Aarons would be tempted by the same career path, but Norwich’s promising promotion bid means the Canaries hold the cards.

Winning the award could see his price tag increase too, even beyond the £15 million fee The Mail touted him at in December.

This could put Tottenham off, however if he is the next Bale, he might just be worth it.
