Harry Winks is likely to finally return to Tottenham Hotspur’s starting line up.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks is likely to finally return to the starting line up this week in the Carabao Cup.
And it will be just the chance the 21-year-old has been waiting for.
Winks was Tottenham’s breakthrough player last season, impressing in a win over West Ham and never looking back.
His progress was halted in early April when he suffered an ankle ligament injury against Burnley.

This ruled him out for the final weeks of last season and put Winks behind the curve in pre-season, although he did feaure in the International Champions Cup tournament.
So far this season Winks has played just 15 minutes of football, coming in two late substitute appearances.
Mauricio Pochettino has not forgotten about him, but he is deliberately using him sparingly so far.
The midweek fixture with Barnsley in the cup is the perfect moment to put Winks back in, and hand him his first competitive start for five months.

Spurs are blessed with midfield options, but Winks showed last season he is good enough to feature for the first team.
A good performance against the Championship side will be crucial to Winks’ chances of being fast-tracked back into the picture.
He has had to be patient over the past five months and Winks will be determined to seize his chance.
