Anton Walkes has signed a new deal at Tottenham Hotspur.

Walkes is out on loan at Major League Soccer side Atlanta United, having joined them back in January.
The young defender has been benefitting from playing regularly, but even with the new contract, his chances at Tottenham are going to be tough.
Walkes has played at Atlanta as a right-back, a position where Tottenham have considerable strength.

This summer they signed Serge Aurier, who is competing with Kieran Trippier and Kyle Walker-Peters for a spot.
Walkes can play at centre-back too, but his path to the Tottenham first team there is equally difficult given the recent arrivals of Davinson Sanchez and Juan Foyth, while Cameron Carter-Vickers also hopes to break through.
Instead renewing Walkes’ contract looks more like a business decision from Tottenham’s perspective than a football one.
Sure they are temporarily keeping the window open for Walkes to prove himself, but at 20-years-old, he will want to play regularly.
He is well admired by fans of Atlanta United, and by extending his contract, Tottenham have simply moved into position to demand a bigger transfer fee than they could have previously expected for the defender.
