Tottenham have suddenly appeared as 8/1 shots to sign Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish during the summer transfer window.

Bookmaker Sky Bet had already opened a market on Grealish’s next club, although there was no inclusion of Tottenham until Tuesday afternoon.

And Spurs are straight in as second favourites to sign the midfielder after Aston Villa’s failure to gain promotion back to the Premier League.

Only Leicester, who have already been linked with a move for Grealish, occupy shorter odds than Mauricio Pochettino’s team, with Newcastle United (12/1), Wolverhampton Wanderers (14/1) and West Ham United (18/1) also listed.

However, there is no mention of Manchester United – who are the newest club to be credited with interest in the 22-year-old.

Tottenham have recruited a succession of homegrown talents in recent seasons, and the chance to unite with England internationals Eric Dier, Dele Alli and Harry Kane at White Hart Lane could appeal to Grealish should he choose to leave Aston Villa – his boyhood club.

Despite the Villans’ precarious financial situation, Grealish is 1/2 to stay at Villa Park and 6/4 to depart.
