Tottenham Hotspur surprisingly went with two strikers against Real Madrid in midweek.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has told the Telegraph that Mauricio Pochettino shared his tactical plan for his side’s match against Real Madrid with him before the contest.
Pochettino shocked Spurs supporters with the starting line-up he named at the Bernabeu.
Tottenham went with two strikers, with Pochettino pairing Kane with Llorente up-front.
And Kane said that Pochettino informed him that he would be playing as part of a strike duo during the week.

“He told me what he was thinking of doing and I agreed,” Kane said. “He wanted to go on the attack, didn’t want to drop off, defend and get a 0-0.”
Llorente and Kane linked well for Tottenham against Madrid, with the strike pair causing some problems for the Spanish giants.
Tottenham managed to collect a 1-1 draw against Madrid, which has earned them a great deal of credit.

Spurs actually went ahead in the contest, but they were pegged back when Cristiano Ronaldo scored from the spot.
Tottenham are now in a commanding position in their Champions League group, and look very likely to qualify for the knockout stages of the European competition.
